Rei

Special Needs Rabbit

Rei is a bunny with a slight deformity in his hind legs. Because of his condition, his hind area was constantly exposed to urine. He was only 2 months old when he developed urine scalding which was recurring and difficult to treat.

At such a young age, he has also manifested molar issues. This means that he will need regular dental trimming, otherwise he will stop eating and possibly die from gastrointestinal statis.

Now, the urine scalding has healed and we are managing his condition by grooming his hind area daily and keeping him dry at all times. He has gotten used to our grooming routine, and he loves getting pets and treats after each session. Despite being high-maintenance, he makes it all worth it being a good boy and tolerating our hugs and kisses!

Rescue Story

Rei was bought from a breeder with his sibling and given as a gift. They may have been too young to be separated from their mom at the time. Due to Rei’s condition, the gift recipient decided to rehome them as a pair to ensure that Rei gets the care he needs. The hoomans of BFFS were more than happy to accommodate them at the sanctuary.
