Kyoto

Special Needs Cat

Kyoto is a living miracle, and such an inspiration to us. She got infected with Panleukopenia as a little kitten, and the vet who saw her suggested euthanasia. We knew that kittens had a very low survival rate, but we couldn’t bring ourselves to do it. We took her home to continue treatment and hoped for the best instead.

For the next 1-2 months, we watched her fight with her remaining strength to finish her Recovery food and swallow her bitter meds. She endured daily subcutaneous injections to keep hydrated. She beat the odds.

Now an adult cat, she is prone to respiratory issues as a result of her long term illness. She is skinny and frail looking. The likelihood that she will get adopted is very low, so she we have officially made her a permanent resident of BFFS.

She loves life, food, and unlimited petting sessions, and we vow to give everything she needs for a comfortable retirement.

All that Kyoto needs is a comfortable home and a steady supply of head scritches. Of course, she would also appreciate wet canned food to keep her appetite strong, as well as supplements to boost her immune system. Can you be her BFF?

Rescue Story

Kyoto was rescued as a kitten with several other littermates. We volunteered to foster them for the Philippine Animal Welfare Society until they are ready for adoption. All of her siblings have been readmitted to the shelter, but Kyoto was left behind because she didn’t have the best health. Despite our best efforts, she now lives with the long-term effects of her illness and is unlikely to get adopted at the shelter.
