Artemis

Special Needs Dog

The first thing anyone would notice about Artemis is her odd-looking face (it’s okay — she won’t get offended!) You see, she survived the deadly distemper virus. Most dogs who do tend to develop long-term side effects to the nervous system, which manifest as jaw spasms and twitching. These involuntary movements affect the facial muscles.

Artemis’ condition will no longer improve. She will be prone to other ailments and time will come when her body will be under too much discomfort. But she is still relatively healthy so we hope that the progression will be slow.

Until then, we love seeing her being carefree, affectionate, and oftentimes silly, the way dogs are meant to be.

Become Artemis' BFF

Artemis loves food! That’s good news because she needs to strengthen her body to fight off secondary diseases caused by her history of distemper. A steady supply of supplements will also help. Of course, it wouldn’t hurt to have an abundance of treats to keep her happy. Would you help us spoil Artemis?

Artemis' Wishlist

Rescue Story

Artemis was almost picked up by the pound when a kind family decided to intervene. She was fostered by her rescuers until she was brought to the PAWS shelter and treated for distemper.
