Basilio was rescued by PAWS, along with numerous other dogs, from the home of an animal hoarder who suffered from dementia. He doesn’t trust easily. He’s a bit grumpy so he needs gentle handling. This is what made him a little less popular to potential adopters than his more sociable kennel-mates.
Basilio got adopted at one point, but was sadly returned by his adopter for health and personal reasons. Instead of re-admitting him to the shelter, he was fostered and eventually made a permanent retiree at our sanctuary.
Basilio enjoys running and jumping. He certainly doesn’t act his age! One time, he got so scared of the rain that he tried to climb through a screened window, and got stuck there for a good 10 minutes. True story!

Basilio has a recurring ear infection that requires daily cleaning. He needs a steady supply of ear cleaning solution, cotton buds, and cotton balls. He also has very few of his teeth left and prefers his kibble softened with some water and wet dog food. It would be great if someone can gift him his ear cleaning kit or a few cans of wet food.
When you become Basilio's BFF, you will receive monthly newsletters with updates on his well-being. You may also request for a 5-minute Zoom call so you can see how he's doing.
