Special Needs Cat
At the PAWS animal shelter, this handsome fella would have been adopted a million times over if he didn’t hiss and bare his fangs at everyone who came to see him! No one was allowed in his personal space. In a shelter where you have to compete with 200 other cats to be noticed and picked by potential adopters, Seeberger decided to just… not.
He became a candidate for fostering to be socialized and possibly rehomed if his behavior improved. And improved, it did! However, he has became too attached to his foster humans at BFFS. In fact, he stopped eating and lost a lot of weight when he was moved to their cattery to be reintroduced to the other cats. It was then decided that giving him a permanent home at the sanctuary with his favorite humans is the best thing to do for his well-being.

Seeberger has some dental issues in that flare up from time to time. He also gets easily stressed by changes in his surroundings, like new cats introduced to the cattery. Because of this, we try to give him wet cat food whenever we can to make sure that he eats. He becomes extra affectionate when he is presented with Whiskas. This is how we get extra nose boops from Seeberger, so we can’t allow it to run out!
When you become Seeberger's BFF, you will receive monthly newsletters with updates on his well-being. You may also request for a 5-minute Zoom call so you can see how he's doing.
He was named after Charles Seeberger, who invented the escalator, because the curious kitty ran inside one and was stuck underneath it for at least hour. He caused quite a spectacle as the escalator had to be dismantled so they could fish him out. Kudos to the staff and PAWS volunteers who persisted in capturing the evasive feline!
