Special Needs Dog
This poor girl has never truly gotten over her fear. Bellatrix is neither senior nor disabled. She has come to retire with us simply because she needed to be taken out of the stressful environment at the shelter.
She’s a very fearful dog who was rescued with her puppies. They were her security blanket until they all got adopted. Bellatrix was left behind, with very slim chances of finding a forever home for herself because she runs away, hides, and shakes in fear in the presence of humans. We tried all methods of socialization but nothing worked.
At the sanctuary, she’s a free spirit who enjoys playing with the other dogs and barking at the moon. She continues to be wary of humans, but she can enjoy the benefits of a home environment where her personal space is respected.

Bellatrix doesn’t have any special health requirements, but we do try to give her good quality food, treats, and regular treatment for ticks. Despite the trauma she endured, we’re still hoping that an abundance of treats (and love!) will help her trust us eventually. Would you like to help us spoil her with treats?
When you become Bellatrix's BFF, you will receive monthly newsletters with updates on her well-being. You may also request for a 5-minute Zoom call so you can see how she's doing.
Bellatrix was nursing her puppies one New Year’s Eve when some vile humans threw firecrackers at them, killing at least one of her puppies. This is the trauma that has scarred her and her puppies, although the little ones were eventually able to trust again. Sadly, that isn’t the case for Bellatrix.
